PetBallad began the way most of our orders do — with a pet who died, and a person who couldn't say what that loss meant.

There were photos. Thousands of them, sitting in a phone. A collar on a hook. A spot on the couch. And no good way to gather any of it into something that could be held, played, returned to. Flowers wilt. A framed photo goes quiet on the wall. Grief this size wanted something with a voice.

So we made one: an original song, written from the family's own words — the nicknames, the 5pm ritual at the door, the thing you'd say to them if you had one more minute — and then a film, edited by hand from their photos and videos, with that song inside it. Not a template with a name dropped in. Theirs, and no one else's.

How we work

We are a small studio, and we intend to stay one. Every story is read closely. Every song is reworked as many times as it takes — you approve it before anything else happens. Every film is edited by hand, frame by frame, and watched from beginning to end before it's sent. That's why we take on a limited number of films each week: hand-edited means limited.

We write plainly, because grief deserves honesty. We'll never rush you — your photos can come whenever you're ready, and the work starts when you say so. And if we don't believe we can do a story justice, we'll tell you before you pay, not after.
